Everyday Acts of Kindness
Special guest piece contributed by Alan
hello all,
i am writing this because it is not only the time of year that people are inclined to think of others sometimes out of obligation, but to say that regardless of the time of year we should ALL think of others and their feelings out of just the sheer "goodness of our hearts"
this morning as i was going into a store to buy a few gifts for the annual "toys for tots motorcycle run" that was started by the United States Marines many years ago i was stunned to see the manager kicking what seemed to be a scared puppy that had seemingly wandered into the store because he must have was obviously terified as i saw his reaction on his little scared face. it had seemed that he had either lost his way , or had somehow gotten loose from its owner. i came to this conclusion because as i attemped to grab the puppy as he was being shoved out the door he had 2 collers around his neck and i could clearly see its large information tag. i kneeled down as to call the terified puppy to try and reasure it that i was not trying to hurt, but to coddle him and try and get him in my grasp so i could read the information tag to try and call his rightful owner. as i attempted to get closer to the dog he darted off rather quickly to my surprise and i than became more concerned because the store was adjacent to a major street with alot of traffic not only by cars, however by a large amount of motorcycles that were on the toy drive. i was able to drive the dog away from the street but he proceeded to run so quickly that i realized it had bee close to a mile until i lost my footing and fallen pretty hard down to the pavement, however when i got up, i was happy to see that the puppy had run out of steam and i was able to grab it in a firm grasp and read the collar. as i read the collar i had realized that i had left my cellular phone at my house and i had asked the first patron i saw wich incidentally was a couple that were riding on a nice Harley Davidson if i may borrow their phone sdo i may be able to contact the owner. without hesitation the man asked me what the phone was on his info. collar so i could keep a grasp on the scared puppy and he could dial the . to our surprise, as he was in the process of diling, a car pulled up and out flew a young girl and her mother in tears and almost histerics as they had seemingly lost a member of their own family. they were elated to see that they had in fact gotten their puppy back in their arms, as he had just gotten loose from hiscollar. they than were thanking me and the other thoughtful gentleman profusely as their tears turned to elation, as they had finally gotten him back. i was quite happy to just say you are quite welcome as did the other man did to just to find the owners. it was just so very fulfilling to see the look and the reaction on not only the little girls face but the mother too as the little girl was hugging and grasping her pet.
as the gentelman and myself had proceeded into the store we had than struck up a light conversation and he said that was a great thing that "i" did for that dog and his owners because he very wellk could have gotten more terrified and bit me for his own self protection, and my responce to the man was that of well i could not have done it if you were not there for his equal heart and help.
well it would seem that what i am simply trying to convey is that "everyone" should use their heart no matter what time of the year it is to just being good people with good hearts as it just make one feel good inside that they were just able to help someone that is seemingly in crisis. and i know that myself and the gentleman left on air when we saw the look on the face of the owners faces, and "especially the terrified little puppy, as well as the smile that grew from ear to ear on the face of the little girl"
please everyone just think of what we could accomplish in this world if we all shared the same mentality and just did things out of the simple "kindness of our hearts" and "not" because we feel it is an obligation because it is just "that time of the year"
i hope i was able to convey a very important message of helping others "JUST SIMPLY BECAUSE" we are all human beings and being thoughtful should just be a part of ou everyday lives.
needless to say, i know i will as well as the nice gentleman that assisted me will be feeling so much happiness because we were able to bring so much joy into that beatuiful little girls face and heart as well as her mother.
"EVERYONE, WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS, JUST BE KIND TO YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGSAS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN WE TOO WILL NEED THAT HELP AS WELL SIMPLY...JUST BECAUSE"
